Why The Fuss?

Every once in a while, someone will approach me and ask “why the big fuss over sustainable development? Why is it so important, and why do you feel it’s important that we address it now?”

We obviously face many, many issues every day with regard to improving our quality of life. However, I still feel that sustainable development, and the development of water resources to support these initiatives, is of paramount importance. Not just for our future, but also in our present.

As an American, I am-for the most part-insulated from the poverty faced by the rest of the world. For instance:

-1.3 billion people on earth do NOT have access to clean water
-Half of the world’s population lives without sanitation on less than $2 a day
-2 billion people don’t have access to electricity

These are shocking considering how we take these necessities for granted. Sustainable development aims to help combat these issues through the implementation of low cost, efficient systems that do not negatively impact the environment.

With the amount of resources at our fingertips, it is our responsibility to develop systems to make this world a better place for everyone in it. We here at Green Water Infrastructure strive to make that difference each and every day.
